Emmie Stenstedt
Emmie Stenstedt is the founder of ELSYS Inc. and STOREME Inc. She has over 30 years of experience in creating business solutions, IT systems installation, integration and user support. ELSYS offers electrical power market software expertise particularly relating to California ISO (CAISO). She loves to sing.
Carol Presley
Carol Presley is an environmental engineer whose focus has been on multi-objective environmental and agricultural projects. She holds a master’s degree in civil and environmental engineering from Stanford and currently serves on the board of the California Society for Ecological Restoration.
Dennis Gaushell
Dennis Gaushell, Stanford MSEE, designed and implemented major energy and water control centers around the US, including CA Aqueduct. Most recently, he was CA ISO lead forecast engineer for statewide real-time electric demand, wind and solar for 10 years. Now sings in theater and opera.
Amanda So
Amanda graduated from Stanford University in 2015 with a major in Management Science & Engineering and a minor in Economics. She is currently Manager of Data Engineering at Nuna Health. She is a mentor for both iMentor and the East Bay College Fund, and an avid runner.
Kent Kuran
Kent, Stanford MBA and MS–E-IPER program, invests in circular economy infrastructure projects at Ultra Capital. Previously he sold utility solar projects at a large US developer as well as researched solar project finance in Africa. He was a champion stamp collector in his youth.
Sean King
Sean King studied chemical engineering at Stanford and now works at a nuclear engineering company designing a high temperature reactor. Previously he was a chemical process engineer at Shell. He enjoys playing tennis and has recently gotten into ping pong.
Dan Mullen
Dan works for an energy consulting firm that supports diverse decision makers in the transition to a low-carbon electricity system. In his spare time, he enjoys hiking, soccer, and playing guitar.
Lynette Curthoys
A Human Biology major, Lynette leads environmental permitting and stakeholder outreach for energy and infrastructure projects as President and founder of Foghorn Solutions Inc. She is also a skilled trainer and facilitator. Lynette collects masks and loves the ocean.
Eric Berendt
After the blood, sweat, and tears of a career as an illustrator, graphic designer, and adjunct professor, Herr Doktor Professor Berendt (he’s not a real doctor and doesn’t have much hair) retired to New Mexico with the intention of being a gentleman of leisure.
Rebecca Wolkoff
Rebecca is a key innovator at Demand Energy, an Enel Group Company. She got her BS in electrical Engineering at the University of Michigan and her MS in Mechanical Engineering at Stanford University. In her spare time, she reads about general relativity, geeks out about vehicle to grid storage, and – as a Cleveland sports fanatic – fends off Warriors fans.

I work across the firm’s long-term resource and transmission planning and asset valuation practice areas. I also currently lead the firm’s project work in India. Since joining E3, I have supported developers and system operators in evaluating the reliability, economic, and policy benefits of high-voltage transmission projects across the Western and Eastern interconnections

Tyson Smith
Tyson Smith has concentrated his legal practice in the area of nuclear energy and utility regulation since 2003. Formerly a partner with Winston & Strawn LLP where he represented clients throughout the power industry, Tyson recently joined the Law Department at Pacific Gas & Electric where he’s hoping to finally find the answer to one of life’s great mysteries: just how many lawyers does it take to change a lightbulb after all?

Vincent Chen
Market research and pipeline development for Jupiter, an early-stage company operating at the intersection of climate science, machine learning, and scale computing to help businesses and policymakers build resiliency against the impacts of climate change.
Kendall Cody
Kendall graduated from Stanford in 2015 with a BS in Earth Systems. She currently works on the Products and Strategy Team at Energy Solutions, a demand side management consulting firm in Oakland.
Sydney Larson
Sydney has worked extensively with start ups across a variety of industries, particularly in solar energy. Her experience has spanned the globe from home solar in to small scale off-grid solar lanterns at Angaza and Off Grid Electric. Similarly, she has worked in a variety of areas from marketing and operations to product management and sales — in other words, whatever needs to happen in a dynamic start up environment. Sydney holds a B.S. in Molecular & Cellular Biology from Vanderbilt University and an MBA from Stanford University. She co-founded Stanford Professionals in Energy in 2015 and is currently the orgnaization’s president.
Milord Mallard the Miffed
And I’m always willing to discuss the duck graph because I’m a duck, of course, as well as an alum. I took my Masters of Physical Education at Lake Lag with a minor in quacking ventriloquism and then went on to an DMD (Duck Medical Doctor) in Web-foot Podiatry at Stanford Hospital. So, yes, I am a quack.

Stanford Professionals in Energy (SPIE) is an alumni organization that aims to build on Stanford’s leadership in energy research by providing a platform for real-world professional development and engagement. Launched in June 2015, SPIE is open to all Stanford alumni.
SPIE serves as a networking platform for alumni across the energy sector, from renewables and electric vehicles to biofuels, oil and gas, and utilities. The long-term goal is to increase alumni engagement with the broad range of energy-related activities on campus and foster collaboration among generations of alumni leaders in the energy sector.
